Talented artist Ryan O’Leary releases his excellent Alternative Rock debut album, “The College Graduate.” O’Leary’s well crafted collection of songs is brimming with irresistible melodies and captures a more relaxing Pop/Rock atmosphere. Right from the start you will thoroughly enjoy these terrific songs. “Under the Influence,” has a nice driving rhythm that burst with passionate vocals and are surrounded by sweet synth strings. Another song, “Change,” impresses with strong and solid vocals that easily sing the melodic lyrics with a polished Rock style. Winding up the CD, “Rediscover,” is quite soulful as the acoustic guitar and strings gently surround the sweet and charming vocals with a warm and inviting ambiance. The first track, "Secret Man Theme," is an irresistible song as the guitar hooks you in with its mystifying melodic melody. The industrial pulses on "Mysterious Interlude," drives the rhythm as the synth sounds emanate space like tonality. The vibrant and upbeat song, "Demon Fanfare," has a clever riff that will have you moving to the rootsy beat. The talented multi-instrumentalist Zallen, has put together a terrific collection of quasi-psychedelic pop/rock on his latest released album, "Crash Landing," that harks back to the days of classic rock, yet still retains a unique voice. "Mission To the Moon" is a fun number with enjoyable lyrics, solid lead vocals, a galloping rhythm, and vivacious drums and guitars. In "Out of Phase" we find more of an antiquated rock and roll beat replete with fiery piano chords and great guitar riffs which compliment Zallen's vocal prowess. "The Last September" is a sharp flowing rock song in which we hear how Zallen's voice delivers strong and melodic tonality. This album is for those who appreciate classic rock music with progressive modern touches and psychedelic expression. It is well produced and each arrangement has a nice dynamic balance between vocals and instruments. Fans of David Bowie or Muse will thoroughly enjoy the well crafted collection of songs of "Crash Landing" by the talented artist Zallen.

The highly talented group, Virus Garage, releases a fury of artistic compositions on their album "Mirror of Psychology." It has all the elements of powerful and well orchestrated Metal/Punk: thrashing guitar, background strings, swelling highs and delicate lows, and vocals that both wail and shake you to the core. The vocals are exactly what they should be, switching between high and melodic and deep and growling. Listen as the vocals capture a sense of urgency with the bellowing track "Circle of Consciousness." The instrumental prowess on "A Blind Total Eclipse" is stunning as the strings complement the strong and razor sharp guitar. "Mirror of Psychology" is five songs absolutely worth hearing, but after listening to them, you'll want to hear more from this group.

"Destined for Ascension" by Grave Forsaken is a Christian metal album with a touch of doom and thrash. Expect nothing less than insanity with this album. All of the staples of classic metal are present on this album – chunky guitar riffs, crazy solos, angry vocals, and drums galore – and remind the listener of a Jesus-oriented Slayer or Megadeth. What sets this album apart is its ability to stay up in your face while expressing views of spiritual faith. The musicians are all top-notch, and the band is tight. If you are looking for a slick, overproduced metal album, this one's not for you. Rather, the band pays homage to their early metal influences with an analog garage band recording. Highlights include the opener, "Warriors of Light," with its papal-church-organ-led intro and thrashy arrangement. "Celebrity Judge and the Sinners Part II" features a growling guitar riff and standout lyrics. The title track, "Destined for Ascension," has yet another growling riff, cool breaks, and subtle variances. If you like Jesus and heavy metal, check out Grave Forsaken.

Wow - "Inside My Head" is an outstanding pop/adult rock CD that features the tremendous vocals of Clare Reynolds. Clare uses pitch-perfect vocals delivered with excellent emotion to provide a set of outstanding tracks. Her voice has a very enjoyable and natural quality. The musicianship and production on this CD match the quality of a top big-name CD, and are well-matched with Clare's vocal talent. This is a commercial, radio-ready CD that has a "wow" factor that we find in the initial independent recordings of some of today's big-name artists. The title track is a beautiful piano-based song that effectively uses dynamics and a powerfully-soft ending, to deliver a strong message. "Come Back" features a melodic and memorable chorus, nicely subtle harmonies, and a nice rhythmic groove. "Time for Love" is a powerful song with excellent depth and dynamics, on which Clare uses her impressive vocal range and a strong countermelody to accentuate the message. If you enjoy discovering outstanding vocalists, or enjoy pop/adult rock music that is appropriate for all ages, you will love this CD.

"Compli-Intricated Life" by Michael Dyer is an alternative soft rock album that takes an inventive look at love and relationships. It is certainly original, as it combines wavy soft elements with bassy vocals, wailing guitar solos and a strong indie-influence. Michael's lyrics have a nice flow to them and are quite clever. The album opens with "Alphabet Soup Love," which features lyrics that tell a story of betrayal based on....you guessed it....the letters floating in a bowl of alphabet soup. Tackling the topic of regret, "If I Could Undo" introduces a bit of a Latin flair in its guitar progression, and exhibits some nice instrumental changes. "Ethereal Night" exudes these same qualities, along with a danceable beat and more of an inspirational feel. If you like Death Cab for Cutie, you'll like this one.

Sharon Paquette's self titled album hits you right in the heart with a beautiful voice and powerful emotion. The melodies are pleasantly haunting and the touch of grit in Sharon's voice gives it a nice bluesy touch. The CD demonstrates the versatility in Sharon's vocals. From beautiful emotional acoustic tracks to higher energy rock tracks, her vocals are very impressive. The band backing Sharon's vocals on this CD is tight and professional, complementing her vocals very well. The production and recording quality are both excellent. Highlights are "I Won't Sleep Tonight," a love song with a powerful, harmonious vocal performance. "I'm Afraid" is a heavy and passionate song very reminiscent of Evanescence. "Good Things Are Gonna Happen" wraps it up nicely with a hopeful message and a sing-along chorus. If you enjoy adult pop/rock female vocalists, such as Sheryl Crow, you'll like this one.

Telly sings of every day things through a collection of songs spanning the last fifteen years. A highlight of the CD are the impressive guitar licks and the tasteful harmonies. The lead track "Ss-up" comes right at you with a wicked riff, shredding guitar solos, and a signature voice. "Comin Down" combines a bar room blues rhythm with wailing guitars and interesting vocal effects. "Blayze" breaks it all down into a heartfelt acoustic number. If you like Alice in Chains, you will enjoy this CD.

"Sub Sonic/Super Sonic" by Tom is experimental big beat rockabilly (leaning toward "Gothabilly") complete with grit and grime. This CD is filled with heavy distortion mixed with a vintage guitar sound overlaying synthetic drum sounds. A variety of guitar, synthesizer, random sounds and drum sounds are used in the creative production and songwriting on this CD. This is definitely not formulaic mainstrem music. The arrangements are fresh, experimental and daring. Highlights are "I'm Going to Build a House," which introduces a synth element and symbolic, spoken word lyrics. "Shiver 'n' Shake" has a catchy beat and guitar track building up to a memorable chorus backed by heavily distorted guitar, and some interesting whistling fills. If you like "The Cramps" and "The Reverend Horton Heat," you will enjoy this one.

"Coast to Coast" by Incredible Loner is a very impressive adult rock album. The highlights of the CD are the vocal performances of Kristen Aiken, who has an amazing voice reminiscent of Sarah Mclachland. In addition to Kristen's vocals, the overall musicianship on the CD, which features flowing piano, is very professional. The production really stands out on this album as well. The sound is that of an established major recording artist. The songs "Sun King" & "Mommie Dearest" have amazing vocal and piano arrangements. On songs like "Lullaby 2007" & "13 Years" guitarist Rob Aiken stands out with his addition of guitars and orchestral arrangements. "Whiskey" shows that the band has a fun side as well. This is a great album for anyone, especially fans of Sarah Mclachland, Coldplay, and Fiona Apple.

"New York Behind Bars" by Ronnie Kelly took us on an emotional journey of interesting stories written this Dublin born Singer/Songwriter. This album does a great job of showcasing Ronnie's strong songwriting skill and passionate vocals. Most of the album features acoustic guitar and vocals, and adds in some other interesting acoustic instruments. The lyrics on the CD are very personal yet are relevant for all of us. The relatively simple instrumentation and production allows Ronnie's visual and emotional songwriting to effectively paint musical scenes. "Down the Right Road" builds into a strong full-band groove and features well-blended harmonies. "Francis Hughes" nicely blends in bagpipe with string arrangements. "I Was There" is an emotional number that hits the heart of anyone who has been faced with substance abuse directly or through a friend. Fans of contemporary singer-songwriters will enjoy this impressive CD.

"Soul & Story: Volume One" from Enation contains masterfully written songs just begging the listener to feel the heartbeat of each note. Frontman Jonathan has an exceptional quality in his soft vocals. This CD will relax and entertain you, without a doubt. Beginning with a couple of pacifying acoustic numbers, which set the relaxed tone, "Homesick" includes a full instrumentation of soulful production, becoming full of emotion, as is the lyrical content. "A Letter To My Son" has to be the most touching song on this entire CD, whispering Fatherly advice like a lullaby. Beautiful piano accompaniment sets a brilliant stage for "I'm On Your Side", our ultimate favorite in it's intensity, joining the many wonderful songs here on this CD.

"Listening Inside" by Abeslogic is an interesting mix of enjoyably quirky adult rock songs. The song styles on the CD are nicely varied, at times feel more acoustic rock, and sometimes fuse jazz with rock. The saxophone adds a nice depth to the music. The musicianship, especially the guitar and sax work, is impressive. A number of the tracks, such as "Ocean Waves and Sunshine Rays," have a cool Lou Reed feel to them. On "A Push Forward" the guitar groove is very catchy and accentuated by nice sax runs. Fans of Lou Reed or Dave Matthews should give this CD a listen.

“Desert Wind” by Richard Murray (Country Rock Artist from London England)

"Desert Wind" by the experienced Richard Murray is a beautiful and pure folk rock album. The CD is the complete package of excellent musicianship, production, and songwriting. Richard's warm, soothing vocals are a highlight of the CD, and have a pleasant yet raspy tone that reminds us of Edwin McCain and Del Amitri. The songwriting shines with highly refined lyrics and memorable melodies. The acoustic guitar on the CD, such as on "Down in this Town" and "1931" has a very beautiful tone that allows Richard's skillful guitar work to cut through the recording nicely. Moreover, this CD showcases a wide range of musical diversity – from the slow-paced, teary acoustic ballad "Enlighten Me" to the upbeat folk-with-a-hint-of-Celtic-flavor "Thinking of Cristina" and the radio-friendly country-rock anthem "I'll Never Learn." With all of these appealing traits, "Desert Wind" is sure to cause a scene in the folk rock music scene.

Each song on the album has an upbeat and fun sing-a-long feel, twangy melodic guitars, and a solid rhythm section to keep your foot tapping. The musicianship on the CD is totally professional. The lead vocalist, Chip Johnson, has a similar timbre in his voice to Adam Duritz from the Counting Crows, and delivers honesty and the right amount of energy to make the songs work. The horn section on certain tracks, adds a nice depth to the music. The track that stands out the most "Nothing At All" catches you from the start with a contagious guitar progression and a unique chorus hook. The production is very clean, which allows each instrument of this tight band, to stand out in the recording. If you enjoy bands such as Counting Crows you'll enjoy this CD.

"Find Our Way Home" by Sil is a two-part collection of well-crafted adult alternative songs, with heavy electronica and pop influences. It doesn't take long to notice that this group has quite a talent for song-writing and composition. The vocals on the CD range from a classic baritone timbre to a pop-fitting tenor tone. What remains the same throughout, is the excellent quality and control of the vocal performances. "Where Angels Live" opens part 1, assuming an electronica edge with its robotic vocals. "Heart Breaker" is another outstanding track; its piano intro quickly leads into a groovy drum arrangement and a harmony-filled chorus. Even more impressive is the violin solo. "Make Love" conveys an atmosphere of uninhibited yearning, delivering a straight-forward expression of a burning desire for passionate love-making. Upon a complete listen, it becomes of no surprise that these tunes were written for screenplay. The emotional highs and lows of this CD make for a delightful and well-rounded listen.

All of the instruments are masterfully performed and well-blended with the rest of the music to complement the songwriting. The songs range from rock to blues to almost everything in between. The tracks on the CD include a variety of genres from reggae to adult rock, which keeps the CD interesting throughout. The lyrics are deep and directed to important global issues such as war and social injustice. The rhythmic grooves and timing is very complex on many tracks, yet the band remains tight throughout and the songs remain melodic and enjoyable. "So Hard," is a very strong track with a socially dark message, but a memorable chorus with a well-fitted complex rhythmic pattern. "Stop" has a nice mix of male and female vocals, and a powerful message in the hook-filled chorus. "Hey," which has all the elements of an adult rock hit, is our favorite track. "Good to Get Away" is an independent artist adult rock classic "must have" CD by Larry Killip. This is a masterful work that shows the professional quality work that can be done without a big-label contract. The tracks on this CD reflect Larry's excellent songwriting ability - very melodic songs with unpredictable yet enjoyable chord progressions, effective builds to memorable choruses, and thoughtful and thought-provoking lyrics. Add to this, Larry's excellent musicianship and distinctive voice, along with some tasteful sax fills and you have a masterful work. The recording quality and production are excellent as well. The music is reminiscent of The Beatles and especially Paul McCartney. The title track is a very memorable and thought-provoking song with a catchy guitar melody and keyboard countermelody in the verses that leads to a well-resolved chorus. "Beautiful Song" is very appropriately titled, and will stick in your head throughout the day, showing the power of the melodic and memorable chorus. Similar comments for "In Blue Daze."
